Cheap multi-city flights in Europe
The cheapest way to visit 2 or 3 cities in Europe is to chain one-way flights on low-cost airlines: fly to city A, then from A to B, then home from B. Each one-way flight has its own price, so the whole trip often costs about the same as one return flight.
Why one-way flights are cheaper for multi-city trips
Classic airlines sell a multi-city trip as one ticket, and the fare is often high. Low-cost airlines like Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air sell only one-way flights. You pay each flight's own price, with no extra charge for flying home from a different city. A flight between two European cities often costs under €40.
How to plan a multi-city trip
- Pick your home airport and a date window.
- Pick how many cities you want to visit and how many nights per city.
- Compare whole trips by total price, not single flights.
- Book each flight. Keep at least one night between flights.

What to watch out for
- Separate tickets. If your first flight is cancelled or late, the next airline does not have to rebook you. With a few nights in each city, the risk is small.
- Bags. Each low-cost airline has its own bag rules and prices. Add bags for every flight.
- Airports. Some low-cost airlines use small airports far from the city, for example Bergamo for Milan. Check the transfer.
- Trains. For short hops, like Rome to Naples, the train is often faster than a flight.
